After three years of not being able to meet in person, the Carder Steuben Glass Association is excited that we will be gathering in Corning, New York for the 21st Annual Carder Steuben Symposium. The event will be held from September 8-10, 2022 and is co-hosted by The Corning Museum of Glass.
The schedule of events, program details, and information on hotel accommodations can all be found on the CSGA website here. The registration link is now live and you can submit your registration details by clicking here.
Anyone wishing to attend the Symposium is encouraged to register and make hotel reservations online soon. Room blocks with preferred rates are reserved at two nearby hotels but expire the first week of August, and registration for the Symposium is due by September 1. Make your plans to attend TODAY! We look forward to seeing you.
Did you know that Frederick Carder created hundreds of cologne bottles, powder boxes, bath salt and cold cream jars in an array of shapes, sizes and colors – all for a lady’s vanity table? Most of these items were utilitarian but each of these pieces is also a work of art with intricate decorations, color combinations, unusual stoppers, etching and engraving among other highlights. This Member’s Spotlight presentation will be given by Bonnie Salzman, who has an extensive collection of cologne bottles and other vanity items. Collectors will be able to better appreciate all the vanity items available and maybe even
start a collection of their own!
NOTE: This will be an interactive discussion. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite vanity item for display and sharing.
Bonnie Salzman is a member of the CSGA and has served on the Board in various capacities for many years. She is also a member of the International Perfume Bottle Association and the National American Glass Club. She has written numerous articles about the types of perfumes and colognes that she collects and has spoken many times to groups on these topics.
In an effort to provide a buying and selling opportunity for Symposium attendees, tables will be set up inside the CMOG Auditorium during Symposium hours. Sellers will be given a card for each item to add their name, description and purchase price. Buyers are to communicate directly with the Seller. The CSGA assumes no liability for damage, loss or the authenticity of items sold.
September 8-10, 2022 The Annual Carder Steuben Glass Association Symposium will be held at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
