Last year the Wichita Art Museum put on a Carder Steuben exhibit. A picture is
worth a thousand words, so the saying goes. Attached you’ll find 4 jpegs made
available by curator Stephen Gleissner, showing the installation at the Museum.
As you can see the display and the lighting are superbly crafted. They capture
the genius of and do justice to the works of Mr. Carder. Just a breathtaking
exhibit.
Steve points out that many of the exhibition pieces were loaned from the
Corning Museum. Encourage your local Museums to do a Carder Steuben exhibit.
With help of CMoG a stunning exhibit and broadcasting of the wonders of Mr.
Carder are possible.
Lori Fuller at CMoG’s points out that the Rakow maintains a Worldwide Glass
Exhibition Database. They attempt to list exhibitions comprehensively.
However, they need help to know where all exhibits are taking place to add to
their database. See www.cmog.org/index.asp?pageId=1225
Have we mentioned that the Carder Steuben Club Symposium is being held this
coming September 14 & 15 at CMoG? We are looking forward to a presentation
of colorants/operational byplays on finished product by former Corning staff
members Ed Bush, Brent Wedding and Jim Sutterfield.
