What do they count for?

Okay now I am really confused!

If the workers made little thing like screw drivers & hammers, maybe perfume bottles & darners with their own touch’s; on their own time, are they being passed as Carder period Steuben but can not be attributed to Carder. I am sure there are hundreds of pieces out there that fall into the area of confusion because there are no records of there being the work of Carder but they may carry the Steuben style / name.
Please, will some seasoned collector put me straight.

On another note, 17 years ago we moved and there are still boxes in the basement I haven’t unpacked until last week, some haven’t been opened in 30 years.

No not Steuben; oh but maybe yes, there is Dorflinger & Val St Lambert. Now there’s a puzzler; these two companies made identical pieces and even identical to Steuben. It seems I’m very heavy in Cobalt cut to clear decanters, tumblers, wines & cordials and having one heck of a time figuring out who’s is who’s; as if that matters, the kids won’t care. My amazement is how they copied one another to the finest detail.
