Cintra or Lace?

Commentary on John Shuman’s definition of Cintra

Cintra Shuman Expansion.

Many years ago when I was at the CMoG, I used to frequent a glass dealer in Elmira to see his latest “finds”. I recall, once he pulled out a tall black and white striped crystal footed Cintra vase which had no colorless casing. I had never seen one to that point and sadly it was beyond my means to purchase it.

I hope somebody in the Club has it in their collection, as was not only a “rare” item but STUNNING!

The Other Side on Rouge Flambe Sock Darner eBay listing

Some debate has been sparked recently over a piece of Steuben i have found out in the wild. Though i should not have used the persons name in my listing without his formal consent. Him and i have personal issue with each other that precede this transaction. We need to both set aside personal ego’s to fully understand the works of Mr. Carder (after all isn’t this what The Carder Steuben Club is about?).

Some have thought it to not be possible to produce one in Rouge (yet here it is). I bought it from the family of the gentleman that actually made it at Corning, it’s a shame to underestimate these men. The work is a shinning example, i am so confident in its authenticity, i can provide the number of the 93 year old woman i purchased it from as I am sure she would be happy to talk about Mr. Hydorf and show the other items he produced at Steuben. Which include an 8 inch perfume with a green stopper as well as other whimseys, most notably celestial red screw driver, hammer and another darner in blue.

anyone is more than welcome to come view the Darner in person at my home in Campbell.

Happy Fall,

Cody Palmer

Please post this as well, i think it is important to get both sides of this story, for me it’s not about the money or dragging my name threw the mud. Its a shame to overlook the amazing accomplishment of Mr. Hydorf, it has sat in this woman’s case for the past 60 years, as an esthetically pleasing reminder of Hydorf. With her not fully appreciating what a truly amazing accomplishment the small darner represents.
