Steuben Alexandrite
Other Alexandrites
Alan:
In regards to the term “alexandrite” glass there is also Moser Alexandrite ( which is a dichroic glass similar to Carder Wisteria), Tiffin Alexandrite and Heisey Alexandrite. Unfortunately I have no photos of these. I believe all of these, including Steuben, in one way or another get their name from the gemstone Alexandrite which changes color under different types of light. My personal feeling is that Steuben Alexandrite comes the closest (even though it is not dichroic) to the appearance of a natural alexandrite gemstone.
