What’s In a Middle Name
Ed Bush of Painted Post, NY says–look for source documents

I contacted Rande Bly regarding the source of his statement that Carder’s middle name was Caleb. He replied that the source was Notable Names Database (NNDB) on the web. This database has a short biography of Carder, and the named sources of the information are Wikipedia and books by Dimitroff, Gardner (2), and Shovers. No primary sources are listed. The name Caleb appears in Dimitroff’s book, and this is undoubtedly the source of the name in the database. Recently, Tom Dimitroff told me that he now believes that Carder had no middle name, very gratifying for me to hear.

Steuben made the 7087 and the 7088 with different shapes but used the same technique. The vase could be had with the top edge in Green, Blue, Amethyst, Ruby and Black.
