ODDS AND ENDS

Jan 11, 2010
Issue 773

You may recall that at the Club’s Symposium in early October of last year the Club had commissioned a plaque commemorating the late Bob Rockwell and celebrating his monumental role on behalf of Carder collectors. That glass plaque was distributed to those in attendance, as well as all members of the club. There are still a few remaining and anyone who would like one will get one by merely joining the Club. Not only do you get that freebie, but also an associate membership in the Corning Museum of Glass. (see attached an application to join for anyone not already a member) Scott Hansen, the vice president of the Club gives this report on rarity on the Rockwell memorial plaque.
We produced 175 mementos

Then Miriam Martinez of the Corning Museum of Glass reports that membership cards for the Museum have gone out to all Club members (except for those who otherwise belong to the Museum). So those should be along shortly, if you haven’t already received yours. Incidentally, Miriam Martinez is the former Miriam Paul.

Finally, Dave Williams passes along these kudos:
Many thanks to Ed Bush of Painted Post, NY and others who have contributed information on glass chemist and scientist, Harrison P. Hood. I only wish that
I had noted that Dr. Harrison P. Hood was listed among Paul Gardner’s list of acknowledgments in his book, “The glass of Frederick Gardner”. Needless
to say that this is still our “Steuben Glass Bible” and also the more recent book by Tom Dimitroff.
Dave (excuse the small font. Just one of those computer glitches in copying Dave’s message.
