Cinderella’s Glass Slippers

Q. Shari Maxson Hopper of Paradise, California asks: “Does anyone know the size of the shoe?”

A. Paul Gardner’s book, The Glass of Frederick Carder, at page 91 illustrates a pair of crystal glass slippers and says they are 8 inches. The caption says “Made in the late 1920s. Carder said the original pair was used in A Kiss for Cinderella, but this has been impossible to verify.”

Battery Operated candles
In the discussion last week of whether to prop candleholders with candles or not, Lisa Ackerman of Orange, California told us that while attending the American Cut Glass Association convention last year in San Diego, “Mom and I were amazed to see battery operated taper candles!”

Beth Shaut of the The Carder Steuben Glass Shop of Corning adds:

“Two Springs ago at the Cut Glass Shop some of the dealers were using them and they look great and very authentic.
