September 8-10, 2022 The Annual Carder Steuben Glass Association Symposium will be held in person at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. One of the many planned events will be a hot glass demonstration. The CMoG Hot Glass Demo Team will show-off their skill by creating an object in the Hot Shop. This is always a fun event where we get to see how glass objects are made and to appreciate the skill of the artists.
Donations are being solicited for a silent auction that will occur at the Saturday evening Banquet Dinner. Donated items may be glass, books, gift cards, event tickets, or other items in which attendees may be interested. Contact Silent Auction Chair Bill Mehlenbacher (Treasurer@Steubenglass.org) if you wish to donate.
Please note that the CSGA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. You will receive a tax receipt for your donation. Payment for silent auction items will be cash or check only (no credit cards).
We have some fabulous items already donated, including these four beautiful candlesticks that will be available at the event.
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Max Erlacher. I knew Max and Kitty for over thirty years and was honored to have them as friends and colleagues. One of the Erlacher’s many contributions to the world of Carder Steuben collecting for both the Friends of Carder and the Carder Steuben Club were plates engraved by Max for each Symposium. In memory of Max, I am going to contribute the Green Jade plate shown above to this year’s auction. It reads “Steuben Glass Symposium -The Rockwell Museum – 1995”.
I believe that this was the last Symposium held under the auspices of the Rockwell Museum and the Friends of Carder. It was at that Symposium that I proposed the formation of what became the Carder Steuben Club.
