CMoG North Wing Addition Progress Report

Don’t blink, because things are moving quickly on our construction site. The construction team has been pouring tons of concrete this past month, and the serpentine walls in the contemporary gallery are almost complete. With a few final pours, the walls will be ready to support the concrete beams and skylights that form the roof of the gallery.

Below the gallery, less visible but equally important work is taking place. Another construction crew is installing duct work, electrical conduits and other framework to support the utilities that will service the contemporary gallery and the new hot glass demonstration space.

In early winter, we’ll begin to lay the beams and skylights on top of the gallery building, and clad the exterior of the hot glass demonstration space. In the meantime, we’ve begun to take receipt of some of the glassworking equipment that will be used in our amazing glass demonstration space.

It’s exciting to see the rapid progress and also to realize that in just one year from now, you’ll all be receiving an invitation to our opening event! Make sure to follow construction progress along the way at cmog.org/expansion.
