Question

Alan, OK, What is “Cyprian”?? Leigh Alan Demrow, Janesville, WI

Lon Knickerbocker of Dansville, New York may help answer Leigh with this comment or leave us still needing to know more?

I am learning so much from our recent discussions on Cyprian glass and Rose DuBarry vs. Coral which I will get back to, I promise.

Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between Verre de Soie and Aqua Marine, lighting can be an issue, however once you get them side by side it becomes very clear, the difference. Some of the pieces on the website under Cyprian are pieces I have submitted or photos Marshall has taken at my house, these pieces were of Verre de Soie with Celeste blue trim.

Marshall informed us last week that there was some erroneous information contained in Gazette 1874 and that in fact factory records indicate that Cyprian glass is defined as Aqua Marine decorated with Celeste blue trim. I would then ask Marshall the question: Is our website misleading collectors because there are clearly pieces of Verre de Soie with Celeste blue trim on our website?
