Edna Schuligoj of Pittsburgh enthusiastically joins the Club with a most delightful note.

I am a new member to the club and right after joining I purchased the book written by Marshall Ketchum. I got it today and was thrilled to find that a pair of perfumes I have are Steuben!!!

I thought they were, but they aren’t signed and I wasn’t able to locate the shape in my other book so I was never sure. They are Verre de Soie with gold ruby threading, shape 6619.

My husband teases me that I have so many books, but I always tell him that if I am able to identify one piece then it is worth the investment!

Looking forward to being a member.

Edna Schuligoj—

Next, Eleanor Cicerchi of Corning comments on the article discussed in the last few days appearing throughout the country on the closing of Steuben.

I read Ben’s article — very carefully researched and pretty accurate from my point of view. And very poignant. I thought the writer’s comment about the poor timing of selling the business to a company that needed to have it be profitable was spot on. So sad.

Finally, Scott Coots of Rochester, New York asks?

Alan,

We are at that time of year when my children begin to ask what I would like for a holiday gift. I have told them that I would really like “A Connoisseur’s Book of Frederick Carder’s Steuben Glass” by Robert Mueller. I had seen it available for pre-sale on Amazon.com with a release date of late December. I currently don’t see it there any longer. Does anyone have any inside information as to when this book will be available?
