Here is my original ad from Country Life magazine featuring a picture of the color Celadon. It shows a pitcher, tumblers, and footed sweatmeats bowl. This ad and a handful of Celadon glass beads from China raised suspicion and started the ball rolling for the correction of the Steuben color Celadon.

Webmaster’s Selection

This is a 6402 compote. There is also a matching bowl and candlestick in this shape. The Dimitroff book calls this shape a variant presumably because of the flower petal edge that isn’t shown on the drawing. Our website has three examples of this shape one candlestick and two compotes and all three have the petal edge. It would be interesting to know if anyone has ever seen this shape without the petal edge. It may be that the drawing is just wrong and all the glass was made with the petal edge or it is also possible that this is really a different shape number where the drawing showing the petal edge is missing.
