JOIN OUR NEXT MEMBER ZOOM MEETING

Save the date to catch up with friends and colleagues for the New Year!  Our next CSGA member meeting will be held on Saturday, January 28 from 4:00-6:00pm ESTThe meeting will be held virtually via Zoom and details will be emailed to Carder Steuben Glass Association members the week before the meeting.  We look forward to seeing you!

In this session, the Beemans will be sharing information and photos about their extensive (and gorgeous) collection of glass fan vases.  Their collection is primarily Bohemian & Czech glass with Carder Steuben and some other makers sprinkled in.  Please join us to hear how this obsession started and why it continues!  To enrich the conversation, please feel free to bring a fan vase or another favorite of yours to share.

MORE ON GLUE CHIP DECORATION

We received a reply to our last Gazette article on Steuben’s glue chip decoration.  This information comes from Beth Shaut:

“Happy New Year to all.  In accordance with different techniques, Mr. Carder would try his hand at different types of processes to prove he could do them; also when told he couldn’t do them, to prove to others that he could.  Carder also designed certain techniques, too, for Stevens & Williams and Steuben. I hope this helps.”

Here are a few photos of the wonderful lemonade glasses with glue chip decoration that went along with the pitcher.

IS YOUR CSGA MEMBERSHIP CURRENT?

If you haven’t yet had a chance to renew your CSGA membership for 2023 (or join us for the first time) please take a moment and do so now.  Completing the membership form is fast and easy via the website here.  Thank you for your support!

STEUBEN NOTECARDS

We have just a few packs left of the Carder Steuben Glass Association notecards.  Each set contains two each of five different vibrant designs showing off both Carder era and modern Steuben glass.  The folded notecards are printed on high quality glossy card stock and come with envelopes. The notecards are $20 for a pack of ten (plus $3 postage to mail them to you) with all proceeds going to support the club and our mission.  Please reply to this Gazette (or email gazette@steubenglass.org) if you would like to purchase them.

IN SEARCH OF…

One of our members is looking for a back copy of the Corning Museum of Glass magazine “The Gather” Issue #30 from Spring 2017.  If you happen to have a copy and are willing to part with it, please write to us at The Gazelle Gazette and we’ll help make the connection.
