The Things You Find At An Estate Sale

Today I was at an estate sale and smiled when I saw this “Steuben” plate. It was made by the Carr China Company of West Virginia. They were out of business by 1952 and this pattern on the back is “Ideal”.

Further research indicates it was likely made for the Ideal Restaurant Supply company which has been in business since 1911. Today they are located in Carle Place, New York.

Of course I would like to know was “Steuben” a hotel? Restaurant? I don’t imagine it had any connection to the glass, but perhaps to a business in Steuben County, New York.

I wonder if anyone has seen this logo on any institutional ware? 🙂 Lisa Ackerman Baldwin
