Fluorescing along

Tony Topps asked why some green glass fluoresced and others didn’t. Jim Sutterfield of Corning, New York, although this time of year perhaps of Arizona says:

To Tony Topp’s question I had the same problem and Greg Merkel of Corning Incorporated was kind enough to use Dr Brill’s new non-destructive machine and found the non fluorescing ones are colored with Cr. and Cu instead of Ur. Jim Sutterfield

It helps that Jim is a former member of Corning Incorporated and I believe a chemist. So, he understands these things.
