At our September Symposium we had a number of speakers addressing the use
of Carder’s Steuben glass by metal manufacturers. This led to inviting Marsha
Crafts to speak. Marsha is an expert on Divilbiss. For those in attendance
Marsha’s presentation was quite special and memorable. This led me to become
aware of the International Perfume Bottle Association, an organization in which
Marsha is quite involved. For Marsha’s talk, the IPBA president, Jay Kaplan
joined us and knowing a great thing when he saw it he took Marsha’s audio-visual
presentation and has packaged it up “to better promote the general public’s
interest in collecting perfume bottles.” This in turn fits into the IPBA’s
strategic plan of developing specialty collector groups.
Out of all of this I was invited by the IPBA ( www.peerfumebottles.org )to do a
piece for their quarterly magazine, Perfume Bottle Quarterly. I responded
with the attached article (reproduced with their permission) appearing in their
just issued Fall 2007 magazine. Mainly an article with glorious pictures
that captures yet another facet of Mr. Carder’s decorative art skills.
