THE CARDER STEUBEN CLUB’S NEW WEB SITE
Effective immediately, the Carder Steuben Club has a new web site located at www.cardersteubenclub.org. The new site has been developed from scratch. If you inadvertently use the old web site address, you will automatically be directed to the new website.
The biggest addition to the new site is a fully searchable Shape Gallery database – an important and major new source of research information about Carder Steuben. The Shape Gallery includes most of the pictures that were in the Carder On Line Drawing Index on our prior site. In addition, thanks to the Rakow Library, it has line drawings for each shape so that you can easily compare the pictures and line drawings. You can search the Gallery by form, color, decoration design, type of glass, etc.
The website also offers a fully searchable archive of the Gazelle Gazette, which is a member-generated wealth of information and learning about Carder Steuben. We are still adding new pictures and information to the site but we wanted to make it available to our members and users as soon as possible.
The site has been developed under the leadership of Marshall Ketchum, our new Webmaster, who worked closely with the Club Board to prepare, refine, implement and test the site. SDI, the site developer, worked closely with Marshall to bring this project home on schedule and within budget.
Mark Buffa and Jim Barlow, the previous webmasters, who were pioneers in developing and maintaining our previous website for the last ten years, have worked with Marshall to transfer content from the old site to the new site and have provided their insights on new website features.
The site development cost us approximately two years of dues income, so I want to thank our members for their contribution to this project. I would also like to encourage those of you who are not members but use the site or receive The Gazelle Gazette to consider joining the Club.
We have made it easier to join the Club. The new site provides an online Membership Application, including an option to pay your dues using PayPal. If you join between now and December 31, 2010, your membership will automatically be extended until the end of 2011.
Please give us your feedback about the new site. If you see or encounter any errors please email the Webmaster at info@cardersteubenclub.org .
If you have pictures of pieces of Carder Steuben that you would like added to the site, please share them with us by emailing them to info@cardersteubenclub.org , so that they can be vetted prior to being added to the site.
We hope that you find the new site both useful and enjoyable.
Happy hunting,
David Goldstein
President
