Waiting

Re: Dr. Merkel

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, it all goes back to science – which I know nothing about. It was the chemist at Steuben, and
the directions/requests of Fredrick Carter of course, that created all those colors. I have no idea how the good
doctor is going to breakdown (poor choice of word, I know) the ingredients, but we can wait as long as it
takes.

Patience

1. Frederick Carder created colors and documented the ingredients.

2. Mr. Carder’s color formula records are in the Rakow Library at CMoG.

3. Dr. Greg Merkel a fellow at Corning, Inc. has been examing the color formulas.

4. There are scientific tools owned by CMoG that can identify chemicals in the makeup of glass.

5. Through a process of elimination some of the colors can be identified or eliminated.

6. Confusion reigns because many colors have multiple formulas.

7. With these tools at hand, Dr. Greg Merkel is working on a book for color identification.

8. Be patient.
