Five Types

from Rande Bly

Here are some examples of Green Jade lined with White like the Grotesque David Chadwick-Brown was talking about.

I have seen less than 5 examples of this type. The bowl shown is now in David’s collection.
The White is definitely not Alabaster. You can see it is as white as Iverene when shown next to the Iverene Cornucopia Vase. It is also not Flint White because the Jade bowl contains an opalescent hue to the White Glass when held to strong indirect outdoor light. It is my belief that the white used to line these few Green Jade pieces and the Grotesque is Henna Alabaster.

The Steuben whites are Flint White, Alabaster, Henna Alabaster, Iverene, and Calcite. You can also see the opalescent in the Henna Alabaster Shade Vases I have had and shown. Nonetheless the glass is very rare. There are reports of this combination being used in a Sherbet!
