What’s Real

I’ve received the following e-mail that suggests you can’t always draw conclusion from stickers or etched marks to verify the legitimacy of a piece of Steuben Glass.

I was amused by the mention of a group of fake signatures…as an illustration. I once saw a green malachite figure turn up at a show which someone crudely marked Steuben. Following that, every time another surfaced it similarly was marked as such. It is merely a contagion. Seemingly, it is so easy to validate erroneously if one is so motivated. Some are in this for the buck, not for the love of it such as us. Quite deliberate and quite coincidental. My best to all.
