Vanity Beauty

Dec 6, 2022
Issue 3660

This is the last segment in our recap of the 2022 Symposium.  We hope you’ll be able to join us at the next one to be held at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York on September 7-9, 2023!

WHAT’S ON YOUR DRESSING TABLE? — BY BONNIE SALZMAN

The member’s presentation is always one of the anticipated highlights of the Symposium.  This year the honor fell to Bonnie Salzman who kindly shared her collection of Steuben vanity items — perfumes, colognes, and puff boxes.  Bonnie shared a wealth of information on different shapes, colors, and techniques in a presentation that was chock full of beautiful photos.  She also brought several examples for the audience to view in person.  The presentation included an opportunity for the audience to share a piece that they brought, or to ask questions.  It was a feast for the eyes of any perfume bottle or Steuben collector.

A BANQUET TO COMPLETE THE EVENT

On the final evening of the Symposium attendees enjoyed conversation and a banquet held in a beautiful space at the Corning Museum of Glass. The event was also the setting for the Silent Auction fundraiser for the CSGA, auctioning off items that had been graciously donated.

THANKSGIVING WISHES

In response to the “Autumn Colors” article in the last Gazette, Jeremy Hayes writes: “Our Thanksgiving has passed and none of this is Steuben. However, if you love glass… Happy Thanksgiving to all. And thanks to Buffalo for taking a lot of our snow.”
