Why Do Vases Sell for More Money Than Bowls?

It’s true that regardless of the medium (wood, glass, metal, porcelain, etc) tall items sell for more than short or low items of similar style and maker. I am not sure whether it is because they show better on a shelf or it is just something hard wired into us. Think of the fact that tall people generally are more successful and receive more promotions and raises than short people. An interesting subject for discussion.

Have You Ever Wondered Why Shades Sell Less than Vases?

Mr. Rockwell told me that shades sold for less as they could only be used for lighting, where as a vase can be used as a vase or as an accent piece for its artistic value. A vase can be displayed as a piece of art and a shade cannot. Although a lot of shades are beautiful and artistic too but we are not able to be displayed that way.
