Davy Crockett

Alan-

From the press release on the back of the photo:

“Priced at $1,500, what may be the most expensive Davy Crockett “item” in existence is now on display in the Fifth Avenue shop of Steuben Glass. It is the Tennessee Bowl, made of Steuben crystal by master craftsmen at Corning, N.Y., and engraved with episodes from Davy’s fabulous career. Designer Sidney Waugh has depicted the famous frontiersman in the buckskins of his period (1786-1836), with his rifle “Betsy”‘ and his pet bear “Death Hug” who smoked a pipe and could sing the bass of “Old Hundred.” Flanking him on one side is a mountain lion, which Crockett would have referred to as a “painter.” On the other side is the raccoon which is said to have succumbed to Davy’s famous grin.” Photo dated June 21, 1955.

Note: The Tennessee Bowl is the bowl for that state in The United States in Crystal series.
