In June of 1948 Minnie Watson Kamm visited Mr. Carder at his Studio in Corning for purposes of writing a chapter for a book she was authoring. James Drumright sent along copies of two articles from The Spinning Wheel magazine, the first article which appeared in the October 1949 issue and was entitled ‘Aurene Glass’. Hopefully, today’s highlight from a year later (1950) in The Spinning Wheel will be of interest.

“Without doubt the most versatile artist in decorative glass in America today is Frederick Carder, of the Corning Glass Company. Mr. Carder has worked in alabaster glass, in cameo glass, in glass sculptured in three dimensions, in ‘Aurene’, engraved, etched, enameled and in intaglio glass.

“Besides all these, he has done notable bronze figures, wood carvings, and has made decorative pottery and porcelains He is a painter in pastel, watercolor and oils. In all these fields, he is a master artist and in any single one he would rank very near the top!”
