Last week Jane Spillman told the story of what happened to a falling shelf of glass, including two Rouge Flambé pieces. We’ve had a couple of responses. First, Neil O’Donnell of Corning says
Thanks Alan, and thanks to Jane for her explanation. As you may imagine, as the story of the broken rouge flambé circulated the extent of the “loss” was exaggerated. Thank goodness these two treasures were repaired. Now we know!
Next, Rande Bly of Birmingham, Alabama adds more to his discussion of red glass in response to Jane Spillman’s comments
This is in response to anonymous. I have not yet heard the story of the broken shelf of Rouge Flambé. If it actually happened I can see why nobody said a word. I wouldn’t even want to tell anybody either. We had a discussion on the internal colors of blue jade once and I did not want to tell anyone a family member broke the piece I was using as an example.
I also need help on a possible wives tale story. I think I remember seeing a clear cased piece of Rouge Flambé back in the 1970’s at the museum. A Club member wrote in and said they saw one there also. A club member also has a piece of what looks to be Rouge Flambé with a clear coat (Bob). I did not write down the information. I will show a picture of yet another piece with clear coat and paper label signature. If anyone has a piece or knowledge of any please come forward with the information again? Here is the picture of a third clear coat piece.
