Issue 3526
This October 1922 Good Housekeeping advertisement for Pyrex Tea Pots is fairly typical. It showcases a single Carder designed tea pot (shape 3298 – the “squat” tea pot). Then, at the bottom of the ad it shows the three tea pots Carder designed. From left to right is shape 1957 (the “round” tea pot), shape 1758 (the “tall” tea pot) and, again, shape 3298 (the “squat” tea pot). All three tea pots were available in three sizes – 2, 4 and 6 cup – and the round tea pot was also available in a 1 cup size.
What makes this ad unusual are the background images of Steuben glass. I believe the image on the right is the bottom half of a 2956 candlestick and the image on the left is a 2895 bowl/centerpiece (that shape was made with and without handles). I have only seen one other example of a piece of Steuben appearing in a Pyrex ad and I don’t recall ever seeing a piece of Pyrex in a Steuben ad.
