Issue 1712
Jo Ann Godawa of Bellevue, Nebraska on the discussion of auctioneers acquiring ownership of objects they are auctioning off.
Also, some bidder do not pay or do chargebacks and return the merchandise. This is especially true with the live online auctions where you cannot reauction an item that has been sold or offer it to an underbidder.
My friend owns an auction house that participates in the live online auctions and she winds up with the unpaid and returned merchandise and has no way to sell it.
Best regards,
Jo Ann

Green Jade Compote
Shape #6402
This Green Jade and Alabaster compote is shape 6402. Dimitroff (Figure 10.112) calls it a variant presumably because of the petal edge which is not shown on the drawing. Our Website has three examples of this shape, two compotes and one candlestick, and all have the petal edge. Is it possible that the drawing is wrong and all of these were made with the petal edge or perhaps the original intent was to make the glass with the smooth edge but very early it was decided to make the petal edge but the drawing was never revised. It would be interesting to know if anyone has ever seen this shape without the petal edge and particularly if they can supply a photo of one.
