Hi Alan,
Thank you for showing more pieces donated to Philadelphia Museum of Art by the Rosens. The gorgeous “colorless acid etched footed vase” reminded me that the much talked-about and highly desirable two- or more color “acid cut back” type pieces are not the only acid etched technique Carder used. Though the lack of color in this piece doesn’t create an obvious high-contrast design that the multicolor pieces do, it is nevertheless a very effective use of acid etching, and anyone would be lucky to have such an item in his or her collection.
