Elizabeth Creech of Brevard, North Carolina has some cautionary comments on stuck stoppers.
Alan, A further thought on those stuck stoppers:
My friend and fellow perfume bottle collector, Bonnie Salzman, has covered the major bases on removal of stuck stoppers. One caveat before attempting any of these methods, especially the ones involving use of liquids, solvents, etc. These can destroy paper labels. If your Steuben bottle has such a label, take extra care to make sure it is preserved. One of my few internet purchases involved a Steuben that the seller had soaked to clean and just happened to mention that there had been a label on the bottom that had disintegrated in the process. (Though shedding a few tears, I bought the bottle anyway, of course.)
Thanks for all the good information you send our way. Elizabeth Creech
The Symposium program announces that Bob Mueller will be a presenter on his new book. The question of the day is will the book be published and present at the Symposium. Chairman, Scott Hansen tells us.
Bob thinks his book will be ready for the Symposium but it isn’t 100% clear. His publisher (Schiffer) has told him it will probably be ready but the last I heard it wasn’t a certainty.
Whether the publication date is met or not, Bob will be presented on his book in any event. Another publication on Carder’s Steuben and additional information and knowledge to be gleaned from it is always an important event for the collector.
