Spanish Galleon

Issue 173

recall the stunning amethyst cut glass Spanish Galleon pedestal centerbowl exhibited in Bldg. “B” at CMoG was separated from its matching candlesticks. The Club and CMoG, in partnership, acquired the matching candlesticks. You’ll see in picture #79 attached the restoration as a console set. The candlesticks are surprisingly large and stunning. These will be dedicated at the Symposium in honor of Bob Rockwell.
If you’ve not been there Corning is a picturesque charming town located in the Finger Lakes region of western New York State. Its downtown is almost filled to capacity with boutiques and restaurants.
Right there on Market Street is a stunning display of Carder’s glass, as you can see in the attached photos. Carder’s glass can also be seen displayed at the Radisson hotel in its lobby, some at the Rockwell Museum and, of course, in three different galleries at CMoG. Something like 3,000 pieces at CMoG. Every display excites the senses and demonstrates the incredible diversity of Mr. Carder. Hopefully, you’ll get the feeling from the attached photos.
