It’s a Small World
Years ago my wife Susan had a delightful visit with a heart transplant surgeon on a flight from Chicago to San Diego. That developed a friendship on Facebook. Susan and I spend winter time in San Diego, and this weekend was a national cardiology meeting here. So we invited Dr. Leway Chen for lunch. Talking about Dr. Chen’s hometown of Rochester, NY we looked for people in common in Rochester. There are quite a few members of the Carder Steuben Club in Rochester, NY. One of those club members at University of Rochester School of Medicine is a fellow club member, Barbara Iglewski. Dr. Chen told us how proud he is of Barbara, who was just days ago named to the National Women’s Hall of Fame. So, we’re proud to share the joy and pride in one of our longtime Carder supporters. Barb, however I do have to recall the one time you trumped me at an Early auction. Alan Shovers
Barbara Iglewski
Barbara H. Iglewski, Ph.D., professor emeritus in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry will be inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame later this year, an incredible honor that puts her aside women’s rights activist Susan B. Anthony, former first lady Betty Ford, and founder of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Nancy Brinker.
