SEEKING QUESTIONS?

Have a question? Perhaps a little embarrassed to ask? The Gazette depends upon questions, comments and observations from our e-mail list. We need this to keep the Gazette fresh. If you ask, we won’t publish your name.

HISTORICAL GLASS MUSEUM #52

This is HGM Steuben No 52. The label says that it is a Steuben 11″ bowl; color is pale jade; downswept inverted rim. If it were a Fostoria bowl, the pattern in the glass would be termed “spiral optic.” However, this is not a Fostoria bowl; you can tell from the side view that this is not Fostoria.

WEBMASTER’S CORNER

This small vase belongs to the Corning Museum of Glass and was a gift to the Museum from the Gillette Wells family. It is 6.5 in high. There are several shape numbers that this vase might be but the Gold Aurene decoration is unusual. There are several pieces in the CMoG collection that came from the Wells family and some of them appear to be unique.
