“Great Thoughts”
Great thoughts Fred Parks…….. I began collecting modern Steuben for 6-7 years before stumbling across Carder Steuben – love both….. Today, our Carder collection is much larger than our Modern. My age? Well, our children think it’s cool!
The Craigie’s of Richmond, VA
Clarification
In my comments on Crystal posted in the Gazette I made a mistake.
* As Houghton put it….. it should have been a quote of Russell Lynes from the Madigan book.
As for the addition of Modern Steuben to our club we are not talking about changing the name of the club just the addition of post Carder in our mission statement, in a form agreeable to our membership.

How Rare?
I received an auction notice from Jeffrey S. Evans for salt and pepper taking place on July 27th, 2013 in Mt. Crawford VA and online. The auction catalogue has almost 850 lots with thousands of salt and pepper shakers. I’ve never seen so many in one place! I was amazed to see the following lots attributed as Steuben. Are Carder’s Steuben salt and peppers rare?

More on a name
I have always personally use 1st Generation Steuben to refer to Carder era Steuben and 2nd Generation Steuben to refer to the glass produced post Carder.
Sincerely,

Mid-Century
I think Mid-Century Steuben would be a good name. After all there are a lot of young adults in their 30’s that are are actively collecting anything that falls into that time frame.

Post Carder
I must say that I agree with Jane Spillman. It is simple, respectful, and very definitive.
