In 1954, Julia Berrall, a nationally accredited flower show judge, edited a book entitled Flowers In Glass. She assembled 11 “top names in the art of flower arrangement” to produce the floral arrangements featured in the book. The result was 43 arrangements, eleven photographed in color and the remainder in black and white. All of the arrangements were created in Modern Steuben glass, including vases, bowls, stemware, mugs, and even an ashtray. One of the holiday arrangements (shown in the accompanying photograph) included Carder-designed candlesticks, shape 7746. This candlestick shape was one of Carder’s designs which made the transition to the post-Carder era.
