Selesian

David Donaldson & Bob Bjork sent a very interesting link in the 2325 Gazelle Gazette.

https://sites.google.com/site/loetzandglass/kralik-7–silverband

I have spent several hours Navigating, from the Home page by
Alfred Villanueva-Collado and I’m only half way down the column of links.
His eye opening “the web of deceit and deception on e-bay” was really interesting.
While I am not a collector of Loetz or Czech I found it a most interesting link.
Thanks for giving me something interesting to do.

Question to Brian Severn–Would you care to share the F. Heckert documentation with us so we can understand why it is not Kralik. I assume there is a picture in the book you refer to. I am very curious to see where this piece and the piece pictured on the Loetz site differ.

Duncan and Miller Request

Thanks for providing photographs of the Duncan & Miller glass presentation. (Gazette 2327) Though I’m very familiar with the various wares this company made over its history, it’s nice to see that it was part of this year’s symposium.

I’d like to see if someone could provide a few side-by-side comparison photos of Duncan’s “Grecian” line urns next to similar shapes made by Steuben. More than once I’ve encountered sellers who were offering Duncan pieces at Steuben prices. One wouldn’t likely mistake one company’s colors for the others (well, most of them), but in crystal, some of them look quite similar. Duncan did also make the Grecian pieces in milk glass, which the uninitiated could mistake for Steuben’s Alabaster.

The weight and better glass quality will of course be the principal clue that a piece is Steuben’s.
