I was sorry to see Debby Schultz’s note about the passing of her husband David Schultz, who was a nice guy as well as an inveterate collector. Although I sold many fine Carder pieces to the Schultzes, the piece I remember best is the one they didn’t buy; the 6497 Centerpiece that is still sitting on our dining room table.
I had the centerpiece on display at a show in New Jersey and got into a serious discussion about it with David. We couldn’t agree on a price and Elissa said that if he didn’t buy it, we were going to keep it. He didn’t so we did.
Several years later Debby and David came to our home to pick up another Carder rarity, a Yellow Florentia vase. David noticed the centerpiece and asked about it and Elissa told him it was not for sale.
It has been sad to watch the passing of so many great collectors in the last year or so. David, we will miss you.

PS- David was born a week before me so I must be getting old.
I am so sorry to hear this news concerning David. I am keeping him and his family in my thoughts and prayers.
