Tyrian Appraisal
Yesterday we saw an appraisal of a Tyrian piece on the Antiques Road Show
Debby Schultz of New Vernon, NJ commented:
“I saw the Antiques road show with the Tyrian piece also. I have never seen Tyrian with the gold overlay on it before.and was surprised .It was really beautiful .I had hopefully thought that the price would have been a bit higher though. If it had been Tiffany who knows what the price would have been.”
Peter Bennett of Rochester, NY said:
“Not a great example of Tyrian..lacks any of the blue/purple coloring.”
Here is a picture of another Tyrian piece found on the cardersteubenclub.org website.

This image shows the stabilizing wire to keep the green lamp from toppling in an earthquake. My San Diego apartment on the 10th floor really rocks and rolls when a temblor hits.
The quartz lamp is both an example of clear quartz and the applied handles decoration is an example of raw umber. Both are shown on the club website. It was advertised as gold aurene matsunoke design by the auction house but I guess raw umber while less attractive would be as unusual as applied gold aurene.
