Ragtime

Well, we learned from Ed Bush that Mr. Carder may have been a child prodigy pianist. Mr. Carder’s housekeepers journal indicated he was. Ed asked if anyone knew about this and no responses. Some conjecture from Gerry Eggert that follows. In the meantime we’ve learned that Ed Bush is a ragtime piano player. So, your Symposium committee in the pianist spirit of Mr. Carder has lined up Ed to play for us at our lunch during the Symposium (Oct. 2-3).

Here’s Gerry Eggert’s take:
Wouldn’t it be hard for Mr. Carder to travel to the “continent” as a classical pianist. This takes years of training. I understand he was apprenticed at an early age (14 years old, or so), to the glass profession. However, Carder was a very gifted fellow. Music, like glass formulas, is all about Math. Maybe Ed Bush has something?
Gerry
