Question for the Day

Dear Alan

The 6600 perfume is one of my favorites. Besides the pomona green that you highlighted in Friday’s Gazette, I also have one in (celeste?) blue. The interesting thing is that the Carder gallery of CMOG has both a green example and a red example, but the red one has a blue stopper. Is this a mis-match?

thanks, Janet (Ziffer)

Another San Diego Highlight

Greetings Alan,

I note Friday’s message from a Coronado resident, perhaps a neighbor of yours from your Coronado complex? If so, please let him know that I am always glad to have him view my collection, recalling how much I have always appreciated Dick Bright’s willingness to let me view his collection in Seattle, when I first caught the ‘Steuben bug!’ It is an offer I have made to other Club members, at various times, should their travels bring them to San Diego. There was a day when stand-alone antique stores were an opportunity to view the variety of Steuben available. That is a hands-on experience that eBay, for all its universality, cannot provide the beginning collector. Even antique shows and malls are becoming fewer and farther between, leaving private collections or museums the only educational alternative.

Best regards,
David Chadwick-Brown,

Ed.–a museum quality amazing collection. And, a gracious host.
