Colored Glass in 1936
Comments from David Chadwick-Brown
This piece goes to prove that they still did colored Steuben as late as 1936, the date in which “Four More Years” was a less raucous presidential mantra and message that we are currently experiencing in this election cycle! The 2009 letter from Tom Dimitroff, accompanying this item I obtained from an auction house, explains it well. “One piece….caught my eye. It was a square black on blue acid-etched plaque. The plaque featured Franklin D. Roosevelt bedecked in flowing academic gown and mortarboard and mounted on a charging Democratic Donkey. Etched at the bottom of the plaque is “Four More Years.” I could hardly believe my eyes, but there on the wall before me was an acid-etched, Corning-made, glass political cartoon.
…. “Carder, an outspoken hard line Republican, and his friend, an equally outspoken hard line Democrat, had many a political discussion some of which would end in one or the other’s sense of humor playing a joke on the other.
…. “This plaque made at Corning Glass Works, very likely by old Carder Steuben workers still working at Corning Glass works, is a fantastic piece of acid-etched glass….”

Yes he did make Burmese. Frank , Amy Blake’s husband had me buy one at the Hoover Auction in New York. Mr. Blake told me how rare it was.
Identification Help
Can your members confirm that the attached photos are shape number 2016? The catalog of shapes does not have any measurements for comparison and no actual photos. I bought this at an auction last week and am hoping it is what I believe it to be.
