Carder Steuben Shape 1500 Proponent

Though the shape of the bottle portion of the cologne is similar to ones produced by other glass companies, I think that the hollow-topped dauber rules out Heisey or Fostoria. I am not familiar enough with Steuben colognes of this type to be able to say whether other companies made ones with hollow-topped daubers, or whether the shape of the dauber matches what Steuben did.

This is a 2533 shade vase in Dark Blue Jade. Dark Blue Jade is one of the rarest of Steuben colors. Dark Blue Jade wasn’t developed until fairly late during the Carder era. The shape is called a shade vase because during most of the life of this shape it was a lamp shade. In about 1928 to 1932 several shade shapes were redesigned into vases. This is one of those. The list of shade vase shapes includes 913, 929, 938, 2230, 2390 and 2533. There is at least one more which may be shape 2354 but the shape number has not been verified.
