Plaque, “Portrait of Robin Fermata.” Translucent and transparent very heavy bubbly “frosted” glass; “mold-cast” (lost wax process). Most of the sculptures rest on a pedestal, they have often a back support. Their condition is more or less mint though many have small chips. Relief plaque with the bust of a violin player; inscription: “Robin (?) or (?) Fermata”; signed: “F. Carder 1950”.

A NEW EXHBIT

The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville NC recently opened an exhibit entitled “Making Scents: The Art and Passion of Fragrance.”

This exhibit contains two Steuben cologne bottles donated by Carder Steuben Club members as part of the exhibit. Featured is a lovely square cologne with gold ruby threading and flower stopper. Club members Elizabeth and Frank Creech worked with Arboretum staff for many months to help put this exhibit together.

While the exhibit mostly focuses on the plants that are used to create the fragrance, Steuben collectors should be proud that Carder Steuben is well represented.
