corningmuseumOctober is American Archives Month, and we’re asking people why they love the #RakowLibrary #archives. Scott Hansen, President of the Carder Steuben Club, told us about his favorite collection: “The Frederick Carder Archives are a treasure trove of information for collectors and researchers alike. Our members regularly access the Archives with the help of the Rakow librarians to enhance their understanding of their collections of Frederick Carder Steuben glass. Without those Archives, the major publications about Frederick Carder and his glass wouldn’t have been possible.” Carder Steuben Club members have generously helped us identify, organize, and digitize many of Carder’s designs and photographs of Steuben glassware – see (clockwise from top left) a design for a goblet with acanthus scrolls (CMGL 136868), Hansen, Kathy Bailey, and the late Marshall Ketchum.
