Issue 3239
Dear Friends,
I want to share some news and information concerning the Carder Gallery and the Carder Steuben collection at The Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG).
The CMOG has recently advised me about plans to renovate Building B beginning approximately Fall of 2020. This building contains The Studio as well as our beloved Carder Gallery.
During the renovation, all the glass in the Carder Gallery will be removed and placed in storage for safekeeping. It is not yet known where the Carder Gallery will be relocated or what form the Gallery will take. These things are currently under review and evaluation.
CMOG’s Director of Collections, Carole Ann Fabian, and Alexandra Ruggiero, Assistant Curator of Modern Glass, will be speaking at our Symposium on Friday morning, September 20 and will hopefully provide some more details on this endeavor.
Perhaps it is serendipity that the Symposium Welcome Reception is being held in the Carder Gallery this year. It may be our last chance to see all of its beautiful glass in one place for some time to come. So, if you need an excuse to come to Symposium this year, this may be it!
We look forward to the presentation from Carole Ann and Alexandra and learning more about the Carder Gallery’s future.

Let’s Have A Raffle!
The Carder Steuben Club is seeking donated items for a fundraising raffle that will occur on Saturday evening, September 21 at the Symposium Club Dinner.
Donated items can be anything – tickets to an event, gift cards, lottery tickets, trips, hotel nights, dinners, gift baskets, subscriptions, and even glass pieces. Use your imagination!
This raffle will take the place of the Club’s auction, which has been moved to Friday evening.
