THE GATHER
My copy of The Gather arrived last week. The Gather is the publication of the Corning Museum of Glass and is sent to all members (all members of the Carder Steuben Club receive membership in CMoG as part of their Club membership).
Two articles caught my eye. First was the article on Tiffany Mosaics. Included in that article was a photo of First Presbyterian Church in Bath, New York. Those attending the Symposium this year had a chance to tour this church and see the Tiffany decorated interior. The Tiffany Mosaics exhibition at CMoG will be on display during the Symposium in 2017 (September 14 – 16).
Second was an article on Steuben’s collaboration with Harry Allen to help design its next generation of products. Mr. Allen led a hot glass demonstration of his Steuben piggy bank at the Symposium this past year. The article also mentioned the coin jar A Penny Saved which was featured in the Gazette last week.
I mention all of this to remind everyone of some of the benefits of membership in the Club and that membership dues for 2017 are now due. Paper invoices have been mailed to all members who had not previously renewed. Renewal is easy – mail a check as described in the invoice or use the Membership tab at the Club website (www.cardersteubnclub.org), or you can click here..
Now is also a great time to join for 2017 if you are not already a member.
