New this year for the Symposium is the ability to register and pay on-line. On the home page of the club web site (www.cardersteubenclub.org) at the left hand side is a link under Symposium titled Registration. Click on the link and it will take you to the on-line registration form. After completing the form you will be able to pay with your PayPal account, use a credit card through PayPal or send a check. Instructions for completing the on-line registration are provided. The registration system is functional now (even before this announcement 3 people have registered using the system). The full Symposium program will be posted to the web site shortly.

Recent Additions

Pay special attention to the Recent Additions section of the club web site (www.cardersteubenclub.org) in the coming weeks. After another research session with the Carder Archives at the Rakow Library of the Corning Museum of Glass, our web master, Marshall Ketchum, has unearthed upwards of 40 new images (photos and line drawings) to add to the web site. Among the new images are about a dozen lamps (5 of them can already be seen in the Recent Additions section), a half dozen or so new perfume bottles and some new engraving patterns. Much of the material sustained water damage in the 1972 flood but was salvaged by the Library and with the help of some modern technology the images can be cleaned up enough so the glass pieces are recognizable.

Then I received the following and related item from Scott Hansen.

Another Milestone

This morning, with the addition of a couple more lamp photographs, the Shape Index database on the club web site passed a milestone as significant as the 1,500th Gazette. The Shape Index database now contains more than 10,000 images – both photographs and line drawings – of Carder Steuben. It truly is an amazing research tool that continues to grow and expand. Every image added improves the database so please take a look in your collection and send additional photographs to info@cardersteubenclub.org.
