Frank W. Ford shares his find with us.

Hello,

I recently bought an extremely rare Carder Steuben New Intarsia vase (shape 786).

http://cardersteubenclub.org/shapes/item-view.cfm?RecordID=18178

I know there are three examples in Dimitroff’s book on page 237. He suggests these are the only pieces known. I don’t think this is so because another Steuben expert says New Intarsia was done in about ten shapes.

What I don’t understand is that New Intarsia was made from 1906-1908. Later in the 1920’s another version was made called simply Intarsia.

Shouldn’t New Intarsia really be the “old” Intarsia as it was made earlier ??

Also, I can’t find any auction records for New Intarsia. I did find a few for the 1920’s Intarsia.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
