Jeremy Hayes Asked Last Week For Help In Identifying This Piece Of Glass

I have a similar piece I was told was a chamber stick by the person who gave it to me. In holding mine to the light and comparing it to Jeremy’s piece, there is a second smaller indentation in the center that would support it being a candle holder. The rim and handle, as well as the measurements, are the same, so it probably came from the same company. Mine has the gold trim around the piece, but has a different pattern – two different flowers accented by leaves/ 5 repeats around the flowing sides of the piece and a stylized flower on the base that is similar to that on one of my Rosaline plates. It is my understanding that it was a later (c 1929 or 1930) Carder piece that was engraved by Hawkes. My piece is not signed either, so it would be interesting to find out more about it and if it is a Carder era piece at all. It kind of resembles a piece of Sinclair glass I have as well.

Regarding Jeremy’s nappie, I cannot tell the quality of the glass well enough to pick a company but in my opinion it is English, especially with the gilded edge. Also it “appears” to be copper wheel engraved not etched.
