Several other Steuben color effects depended on inclusions of powdered glass. One of the earlier types called Cintra, was produced by rolling the parison (partly inflated gather of hot glass) of crystal over powdered glass of the color or colors desired which had been spread on the marver (the slab on which a glassblower rolls the hot glass). The parison and its layer of powdered glass were then covered with a layer of crystal which not only held the powdered glass in place, but added an optical quality to the finished piece. Cintra was also used as a center for elegant cologne bottles encased in heavy crystal containing controlled bubbles and finished on the outside with prismatic cut designs.

I stumbled across this website – www.glassandpotterysellers.org . It appears to be an association of Ebay sellers. There isn’t any Steuben material, but I did spend about 20 minutes roaming around the site and found some of it informative so maybe there is some substance there that some Gazette readers might find useful.
